I am pleased to announce the new Tau Alpha Pi paper competition open to all current student members of Tau Alpha Pi. Students wishing to compete must write a paper detailing a research project, course project, or capstone design project with which they have been integrally involved. The authors of the top four papers will receive a stipend to attend the 2008 National ASEE Conference in Pittsburgh (June 22-25, 2008). There, they will have the opportunity to compete in a presentation competition for top honors and cash awards. All entries must be submitted by April 7th, 2008 through their student chapter faculty advisor to Warren Sallade (W.Sallade@asee.org).

I encourage all faculty members to work with their local TAP faculty advisor and their Tau Alpha Pi students in responding to this unique opportunity. We are looking forward to seeing several excellent papers this year. Details about the competition can be found at here. If you have any additional questions, please contact me at porter@entc.tamu.edu.

Thank you,

Jay Porter
TAP Board of Directors

January 27, 2008Robodogs in action

Tau Alpha Pi has an opportunity to get involved with Crown Point High School's tech club.  Robodogs is their robotics team, which is hosted by FIRST.  Each season the robotics team receives a new task.  Later on in the semester, they will compete with other high schools.  This would be great hands-on experience, especially for MET and ECET students.  If you take part in this, you may also have some networking opportunities.   Here is their website.  E-mail me back if you are interested.
