Our History

In 1989, several Purdue University Calumet engineering students decided to form a student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE). The goals of these students were simple: to support each other's quest for success, to develop a professional attitude, to provide exposure to positive role models.

Since SHPE was formed at Purdue University Calumet, we have raised and provided over $10,000 in educational assistance in the form of scholarships to incoming freshmen. Currently, SHPE-PUC is still going strong. We are active in national SHPE events and remain one of the top student organizations on campus.

Mission Statement
