2005-2006 SHPE PUCThis year, SHPE-PUC is comprised of members from a diverse set of backgrounds, including Hispanic, African, Macedonian, Latvian, African American, and many others. The members of SHPE-PUC represent the kind of diversity one can expect to find at Purdue University Calumet. For more information regarding SHPE-PUC, please view the All About SHPE-PUC presentation used for recruiting purposes on campus. Below you will find even more info regarding our organization. Our HistoryIn 1989, several Purdue University Calumet engineering students decided to form a student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE). The goals of these students were simple: to support each other's quest for success, to develop a professional attitude, to provide exposure to positive role models. Since SHPE was formed at Purdue University Calumet, we have raised and provided over $10,000 in educational assistance in the form of scholarships to incoming freshmen. Currently, SHPE-PUC is still going strong. We are active in national SHPE events and remain one of the top student organizations on campus. Mission StatementSHPE promotes the development of students in engineering, science, and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity, and social equity. Statement of ValuesWe are brought together by heritage, social responsibility and desire to improve the equality of all people with science and technology. We value excellence in education, professional pursuits and leadership. We obtain excellence through integrity, empowerment, achievement, diversity and continued improvement.
