IIE Chapter 822 Purdue University Calumet!

Return to About IIE Chapter 822.

Strategic Plan for School Year 2002/2003

Purdue University - Calumet (PUC) Chapter 822's mission is to promote the profession of Industrial Engineering, while providing a forum for student members to become involved in the development of their learning skills and professional career. In addition, PUC Chapter 822 will maintain its standing with "The Institute of Industrial Engineers" - our national organization. All strategic planning will move us towards this mission.

At a minimum, PUC Chapter 822 will:

  1. Submit a slate of officers (all officers will be current members of IIE).
  2. Submit an annual IRS tax filing by April 16th.
  3. Submit the Chapter Activity Report (CAR) by April 28th.
  4. Hold monthly chapter meetings during the school semesters. Members will be notified of meetings via e-mails and posting of campus flyers and/or notification in the PUC Chronicle Newspaper. All meetings will have an agenda that may act as the meeting minutes.
  5. Send an official delegate to the 2003 IIE University Conference for Region 4 to be hosted by Purdue University, West Lafayette Campus on February 14-16.
  6. Hold a Technical Paper Competition within the chapter. Papers, with the permission of the student, will be published on the chapter Web site, and if accepted by the Chronicle, in the school paper.
  7. Send at least one chapter communication per semester/quarterly (flyer, emails, meeting announcement).

In addition to the above minimum, PUC Chapter 822 will develop and implement an Outreach and Awareness program for local high schools, local businesses, and will help establish the School of Technology’s Tutoring and Mentoring office which will serve current and incoming freshman students. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Contacting at least one high school for presentation of PUC's Manufacturing Engineering Technologies and Supervision program, with emphasis given to the Industrial Engineering Technology (IET) program.
  2. Working with PUC Career Services to identify local business contacts interested in or requiring Industrial Engineers. When identified, these businesses will be contacted by Career Services at the request of PUC Chapter 822. Contact efforts will be made to list businesses interested in IE's on our chapter Web site, and partner with these businesses to open opportunities for PUC IET graduates.
  3. Participating in PUC school functions that will include Red Cross blood drives, school events, and other charitable events.
  4. Participate in freshman orientation by providing support to staff, tours for students, and answer any questions the students may have regarding the School of Technology.
  5. Planning for mentoring of current and incoming IET students through the new Tutoring and Mentoring office in the School of Technology.
  6. Put together a seminar event that will address some of local industries problems with the monetary benefits going to our IIE chapter.
  7. Put together a resume book, made of IIE Chapter 822 member resumes, that can be handed out to potential employers that attend events at PUC.
