IIE and SME student chapters of Purdue University Calumet have joined efforts in order to provide a forum to promote the professions of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. We also act as seperate organizations, hence, we have provided the above link for SME students and others interested in SME specific events.

July 2002

20th, Saturday, PUCCO car wash day, 45th street at the Burger King (Highland/Griffith). Keep your car dirty during the week so we can support PUCCO!

August 2002

4th, Sunday, 3:00 P.M. Anderson lounge, there will be an IIE senior and student chapter meeting. Please attend if you can.

9th and 14th, Friday and Wednesday there will be a leadership training session for those signed up to help during the New Student Conference.

16th, Friday, there will be a mandatory student organizational meeting at The Center, 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Please pass the word around to other organizations to attend.

23rd and 24th, Friday-Saturday, there will be a new student conference reception at the SFLC Concourse. Student organizations can set up tables to recruit and inform potential members. Table reservations are required. We (IIE) have our reservation in and invite other technology organizations to join us.

Group leaders are also needed to meet, greet and to share collegiate experiences with new students and their families. Please sign up at The Center for Career and Leadership Development, SFLC-349, (219) 989-2419.

Times for the student conference reception are: for Friday 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., and for Saturday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

26th thru 29th, Monday thru Thursday, will be PUC's welcome back to school week. Student organizations will present themselves during the week on the SFLC concourse to educate students on the purpose of the organization and to promote new membership.

September 2002

23rd, Monday, 8:00 to 9:30 P.M., Anderson Building room A-244, IIE Chapter 822 will be holding an informational meeting. This is the first meeting of the this academic year. All new IIE members, current members, alumni members, students, facult and staff are invited to attend.

30th, Monday, 6:00 P.M. Alumni Hall, presentation "The New Age of Mars Exploration" presented by Don Palac - NASA Glenn Research Center.

October 2002

1st, Tuesday, 6:00 P.M., there will be a student chapter SME/SAE meeting in Anderson 248.

10th, Thursday, 5:30 P.M., SME senior chatper 112 will be hosting a plant tour at Pepsi Bottlers, Munster, IN. Cost is $15.00 per person which includes the tour and a dinner. To register for the tour call Jeff Hill at 1-800-446-7763, x-7429. The deadline for signup is October 8th.

14th, Monday, 6:15 P.M., Lean Presentation "Workcell Development in a Lean Environment." This is a kickoff meeting sponsored by World Class Manufacturing Consultants, SME, BMT, and ASQ. 24th, Thursday, 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., there will be a Vendor Display and Seminar Conference at The Center, sponsored by our local SME Senior Chapter 112. All PUC students are welcomed to attend for free. Proceeds from the event will go towards scholarships at local universities. For directions to The Center click here.

November 2002

1st, Friday, 11:00 A.M. thru 3 P.M., CCLD is sponsoring the 14th Annual Job Fair which will be held in the Physical Education Recreation Building at Purdue University Calumet. For more information go to the Job Fair web site. Companies attending that might be of interest to you include: Avery Denison, BP Whiting Refinery, Chevigny Personnel, Dietrich Industries, Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, Ispat Inland Inc., Navy Recruiting District - Chicago, Robinson Engineering Ltd., Sterling Engineering, United Parcel Service, Unites States Air Force, United States Army Recruiting Battalion, United States Customs, and Worthington Steel.

2nd, Saturday, 5:00 P.M. at the Omega Sports center, the School of Technology paint ball fight. All PUC students, faculty, staff, and friends are welcome to join us. Please let us know via E-mail if you are considering to attend. We need a tentative head count. The event will be held at the Omega Sports Center in Hobart. Cost is approximately $25 (depending on number of people - could be less or perhaps more) which covers rental of the mask, gun, CO2 and 200 rounds of paintballs. You can bring your own equipment if you wish, but the paintballs must be purchased from Omega. Afterwards we will have pizza and soda. For a map to Omega Sports click here.
