CONSTITUTION

Article I.                                Purpose of Organization

The purpose of BLAZE is to enhance the kingdom of God by planting the Word of God in the hearts of people.

Article II.                              Membership

Membership in keeping with PUC organization policy is defined as those PUC students who have attended a BLAZE event or meeting at least once and has openly acknowledged his/her membership through application and regular attendance.  All membership has the right to be informed about any administrative decision made by the Leadership Team and must be given the opportunity to address any concerns they might have at the Membership Meetings. 

Honorary Membership is defined as all non-PUC students and PUC alumni in keeping with PUC organization policy and BLAZE vision, doctrine, bylaws and constitution.  They must be approved by the Leadership Team and will have no voting rights; however may participate in nominating officers.  PUC alumni will automatically enter in to this membership status unless otherwise determined by the Leadership Team. 

Article III.                             Officers

Leadership Team is defined as those elected officers inclusive of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Armor bearer.  All future officers must be Christians, who are initially nominated by members, then recommended by the Leadership Team, approved by the Advisor and finally elected by a quorum of membership prior to term, unless otherwise stated in the constitution.  All terms are for one year and officers can only serve up to four terms.  Attendance is mandatory for the Leadership Team at ninety percent of all meetings.    It is well advised that no member of the Leadership Team be obligated to any other campus organization as an officer or to the university as an Resident Assistant.       

Advisor                 
The BLAZE advisor must be a Christian and member of some local congregation where he/she attends regularly.  The advisor has no obligation to attend BLAZE events or meetings; however should at least once at his/her discretion.  Advisor is reviewed on yearly basis and is nominated and appointed by Leadership Team.

President              
First in command, the President is responsible for all meetings and auxiliaries unless otherwise delegated and is in charge of all administrative decisions.  He must have recommendations from at least two of those church members (not family) including one from his/her pastor or assistant pastors and remain in good standing.   

Vice President     
Second in command, the Vice President assumes all responsibilities when the president is not available.  In general, he/she is responsible for assisting the president in all administrative decisions.  He/She must have recommendations from at least two of his/her church members (not family) including one from his/her pastor or assistant pastor and remain in good standing. 

Secretary              
Third in command, the Secretary will assume all responsibilities when Vice President is not available.  In general, the Secretary is responsible for maintaining all organization records, reserves and verifies all reservations, and is head of all committees unless otherwise delegated. Secretary must have recommendations (not family) from at least two of his/her church members and remain in good standing.

Treasurer             
Fourth in command, the Treasurer will assume all responsibilities when the Secretary is not available.  In general, the Treasurer’s job is to keep copies of all financial records and head all fundraising committees unless otherwise delegated.  The Treasurer must be prepared and report a weekly accounting of all financial records.  Treasurer must have recommendations from at least two of his/her church member (not family) and remain in good standing.

Armor bearer       
Fifth in command, the Armor bearer will assume all responsibilities when the Treasurer is not available.  The role of the Armor bearer is to make sure all things are in order including attending to the administrative needs of the Leadership Team.  Armor bearer is only by appointment of the Leadership Team and approved by the Advisor and must remain in good standing. 

Article IV.                             Meetings

Leadership Team and Membership meetings are held to discuss any business and planning that might occur throughout the school year.  BLAZE meetings are primarily for worship purposes.  All orders of meetings are at discretion of the Leadership Team.

Leadership Team meetings are to be held weekly at officers’ discretion.  Membership meetings are to be held monthly at the final BLAZE meeting of the month.  BLAZE meetings are to be held weekly on Tuesday nights at seven o’clock unless otherwise determined by Leadership Team when absolutely necessary. 

Article V.                              Finances/ Dues

Dues are on a voluntary basis only and cannot exceed five dollars per semester.  All finances are to be handled solely by Treasurer and Vice President.  The President should never handle the finances of BLAZE.  All fundraising, funds and dues will be handled in keeping with PUC organization policy and BLAZE vision, doctrine, bylaws and constitution

Article VI.                             Amendments (Constitution and Bylaws)

Amendments to Constitution or Bylaws must be presented by the Leadership Team with the approval of BLAZE Advisor and voted on by membership quorum (see bylaws) with three-fourths in the affirmative.
