The Black Student Union was formed in 1968 at Purdue University Calumet. The founders of this organization recognized the need for coordination, improvement, and cultivating self-reliance in their current university community. They realized that progress, academic morale, and social strides must be made toward the unification and enlightenment of the entire student body at Purdue. In addition, the Black Student Union provides an
organized collective structure that defines, protects, and develops our interest as Black students. We seek to enlighten the entire university community and to share our commitment, talent, and strength. With that in mind, we engage in discussion groups, social gatherings, and service activities. We invite ANY PUC student to join us regardless of race, religion, or sex. Our hope is tomorrow, won't you join us in our efforts?!
